Ashley Woods was a 2016 valedictorian of Kimberly High School. During her high school years, she participated in various clubs and teams including 4H, FFA, Speech and Debate, Varsity Golf, National Honors Society and Key Club. Her postsecondary education is currently at Utah State University. As a freshman, Ashley has become a member of the university’s chapter in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and has earned the ranking of Dean’s List. Ashley is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with an emphasis in food science. With this degree she plans to work for a multinational company contributing to common goals in food engineering such as feeding a growing world population on a diminishing amount of agricultural land. Through her work, she hopes to educate people about the benefits of genetically modifying food and helping third-world countries through creating hardier plants to increase crop yield.
