Bret Kindall

Cambridge, Idaho

Project Detail

Bret Kindall grew up in Cambridge where he graduated in 2015 as the valedictorian. During high school, he was very involved with clubs, such as FFA and National Honor Society. In FFA, he served as the Cambridge FFA Chapter President and Western Idaho District Treasurer. Bret’s favorite FFA activity was competing in Career Development Events (or CDEs). He participated in a wide range of CDEs, including Rangeland Assessment, Soil and Land Evaluation, Food Science and Technology, and Environmental and Natural Resources, but his favorite competitions were the Floriculture and Nursery/Landscape CDEs. Bret was the state champion in both events during his senior year and helped his teams advance to the national level, where he then became the 2015 National FFA Floriculture CDE Individual Champion. Bret attributes his knowledge and passion of plants and the green industry to his experiences in FFA, which is why he is working towards two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Environmental Horticulture and one in Agricultural Education. His career goal is to become an Agricultural Teacher and FFA Advisor in Idaho and have a major emphasis on horticulture and plant sciences. Bret is currently a sophomore at the University of Idaho. He joined the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity where he is serving as the Scholarship Executive Board Member. He is also the Vice President of Collegiate FFA and a College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Ambassador. Bret has earned high honors on the Dean’s List for every semester and was nominated for the Outstanding Freshman of the Year Award last year and was nominated for the Outstanding Sophomore of the Year Award this year. Bret spends most of his time fishing, hanging out with friends, or visiting nurseries to look at plants. He hopes to one day educate agriculture students and help them become successful in careers related to horticulture and plant science.
