Gretchen Hansten is a 2016 valedictorian and graduate of Jerome High School, and will be attending the University of Idaho to major in Agricultural Education in the fall of 2016. Her ultimate career goal is to work for the National FFA Organization in Indianapolis, Indiana. In high school, she had a 4.0 GPA all four years and took seven dual-credit courses while being active in the Jerome FFA Chapter, the school leadership team, and National Honor Society. She served as the Jerome FFA President and the South Magic Valley District FFA President and competed in several Career Development Events at the district, state, and national levels. The Career Development Events she competed in were Prepared Public Speaking, Forestry, Land Evaluation, and Agronomy. Gretchen was also very active in the Jerome County Clever Clovers 4-H Club where she was a teen mentor and participated in the photography project. For the last seven years, she has shown beef steers and goats for the county fair through 4-H and FFA. She also enjoys spending her time volunteering at the Salvation Army and working with the youth.
