Leah Meeks is currently a doctorate research student at Utah State University in the Civil and Irrigation Engineering department. Meeks graduated from Twin Falls High School in 2003. Meeks majored in Agricultural Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with an irrigation emphasis and a Women’s Studies minor. In 2010, Meeks earned her masters of engineering degree at the University of Florida. Her research, in which she evaluated rain sensors to reduce residential irrigation, is currently in press in professional irrigation journals. At Utah State, Meeks is on a research team funded through the National Science Foundation modeling water resources to aid in water management decisions. After gaining industry experience and obtaining her professional engineering license, Meeks plans on returning to academia to teach irrigation and water resources engineering courses.
