Leah Meeks, a 2003 graduate of Twin Falls High School, is currently working on her master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Florida. In June 2008, Leah graduated from Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo with her bachelor’s degree in BioResource and Agricultural Engineering with a Women’s Studies Minor where she was named one of the Top 5 Women in Engineering and Technology for the class of 2008 for her scholastic achievements and community involvement. Leah obtained her Engineer-InTraining certificate in July 2008. Meeks’ thesis research at the University of Florida is evaluating and testing rain sensors to reduce residential irrigation. Meeks will graduate in May 2010 and will return to the Western US to pursue her PhD in agricultural engineering. After completing her formal education, Leah plans on obtaining her professional engineering license and teaching at the university level.
